All requests should include the following information and be made through your unit's DOA Specialist. You can find a list of DOA Specialists on the DOA Specialists page.
Information to include
New Delegations
Requests for NEW delegations must include the following information:
- Requester: Name of the individual authorizing this new delegation request.
- Delegator: Must include the delegator's Human Resources Position Number, the delegator's name and their internet ID)
- Delegatee: Must include the delegatee's Human Resources Position Number, the delegatee's name and internet ID. Note: For new employees be sure you use the employees final internet id. If the internet id changes, all delegations will have to be reentered.)
- Authority: Specify the authority code for the new delegation (example: FN04 Purchases of goods and services up to $49,999)
- Scope: Specify the unit(s) for which the delegation will apply. This is either a campus-code, a college-code, or an enterprise financial system (EFS) Dept ID number.
- Limitations (optional): Specify any limitations on the delegation (for example, "this delegation may be sub-delegated only to xxxxxx (position title, not name of individual)."
- Effective date: Indicate when the delegation should take effect, if different than the date of the request.
- Are there any delegations that should be removed as a result of this request?

Changes to Delegations
Requests for CHANGES to delegations must include the following information:
- Requester: Name of the individual authorizing this new delegation request.
- Delegator: Must include the delegator's Human Resources Position Number, the delegator's name and their internet ID)
- Delegatee: Must include the delegatee's Human Resources Position Number, the delegatee's name and internet ID. Note: For new employees be sure you use the employees final internet id. If the internet id changes, all delegations will have to be reentered.)
- Authority: Specify the authority code that is being revised. Leave this blank if all authorities are being transferred from one employee to another.
- Scope: Specify the unit(s) for which the delegation will apply. This is either a campus-code, a college-code, or an enterprise financial system (EFS) Dept ID number.
- Effective Date: Indicate when the change should take effect, if different than the date of the request.

Remove Delegations
Requests to REMOVE delegations for a position must include the following information:
- Requester: Name of the individual authorizing this delegation removal.
- Delegator: Must include the delegator's Human Resources Position Number, the delegator's name and their internet ID)
- Delegatee: Must include the delegatee's Human Resources Position Number, the delegatee's name and internet ID. Note: For new employees be sure you use the employees final internet id. If the internet id changes, all delegations will have to be reentered.)
- Authority: Specify the authority code(s) that is to be removed.
- Scope: Specify the unit(s) for which the delegation removal will apply. This is either a campus-code, a college-code, or an enterprise financial system (EFS) Dept ID number.
- Effective Date: Indicate when the change should take effect, if different than the date of the request.
Important Note: You cannot remove a delegation if that delegation has been subdelegated. If you still wish to remove a delegation, please include a request to remove the matching subdelegation(s) from their direct report(s) as well.

Transfer Delegations to Another Position
Requests for TRANSFER delegations to another position must include the following information:
- Requester: Name of the individual authorizing this new delegation request.
- Delegator: Must include the delegator's Human Resources Position Number, the delegator's name and their internet ID)
- Delegatee: Must include the delegatee's Human Resources Position Number, the delegatee's name and internet ID. Note: For new employees be sure you use the employees final internet id. If the internet id changes, all delegations will have to be reentered.)
- Authority: Specify the authority code that is being revised. Leave this blank if all authorities are being transferred from one employee to another.
- Scope: Specify the unit(s) for which the delegation will apply. This is either a campus-code, a college-code, or an enterprise financial system (EFS) Dept ID number.
- Effective Date: Indicate when the change should take effect, if different than the date of the request.
Example:
Please transfer all existing delegations for position #456789 (currently held by Sally Strothers, strot001@umn.edu) to Don Quixote, position #789123, quixo123@umn.edu
